Lowmarsh · by the canal

A whole quarter, one block at a time

Twelve old warehouses, a market hall and a lock, rebuilt as homes, studios and places to eat. Scroll, and watch it go up.

  1. Market Hall

    The market hall

Under the glass roof, thirty stalls on Saturdays and a street-food kitchen every evening.

  2. The Studio Yard

    The studio yard

Three warehouses of studios and a coworking hall: 140 desks, a darkroom and a woodshop.

  3. Lock 17

    Lock 17

The lock still works. Boats pass through most afternoons, and the café on the towpath watches them go.

  4. Canal Terrace

    Canal Terrace

Forty-two townhouses and flats along the water, each with a balcony or a roof garden.

  5. Meadow Park

    Meadow Park

Where the car park was: a wildflower meadow, a pond and the quarter's playground.
